The mother of a court defendant at the centre of a Dundee search has made an emotional plea for him to get in touch.
Brian Martin, who is facing charges of starting two serious fires in the city, has not been seen for almost a fortnight and his mother, Carol, has not heard from him since Christmas.
“We’re all worried sick,” she said. “His sister Jacqueline is due her second baby on Saturday. It was one of the things he was most looking forward to.
“None of us know what to think because he’s never ever not contacted family.”
Martin, 30, is accused of starting a blaze at a tenement building in Garland Place in April 2012.
He also faces charges of wilfully setting fire to a mattress within the common close of 40 Union Street later that month.
He failed to appear for a hearing at the sheriff court in December, when a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He was last seen at the a friend’s home in Wentworth Drive in Dundee about 7.45am on January 10.
The Police Scotland helicopter was this week called in to help with the search.
Martin is 5ft 7in, of slim build, with short brown hair and has green eyes.
He was last seen wearing a woollen tammy, a red, grey and black waist-length jacket, blue jeans and grey trainers.
Anyone who has seen him should call Police Scotland Tayside Division on non-emergency line 101.
