A cyclist was taken to hospital in a critical condition after being involved in a collision with a van in Moray on Friday.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Ordiequish Road, Fochabers, at 4.15pm.
A police spokesman said the male cyclist thought to be a teenager from the Dundee area was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin, and confirmed that his head injuries were serious.
He was later transferred by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where his condition was described as “critical”.
The cyclist was believed to be on a mountain-bike holiday in the area, and was staying in local accommodation.
The police spokesman added that the vehicle involved was a white Volkswagen van.
The scene is near to the Ordequish mountain bike trail.
