Hundreds of homes in Oakley without water overnight
ByThe Courier Reporter
Hundreds of homes in Oakley were without water for more than 13 hours overnight due to a burst pipe.
Around 250 properties were affected when a water main ruptured on Tuesday evening at the railway bridge near the village.
Station Road was also closed in both directions. Repair workers attending the scene had to labour throughout the night to get the water supply restored.
The problem occurred at 8.30pm on Tuesday and the matter was not resolved until 9.50am the next day.
A Scottish Water spokesman said: “A burst 18-inch water main at the railway bridge near Oakley caused an interruption to the water supply for around 250 surrounding properties.
“We had a squad on site immediately and performed an overnight repair. “The water main was recharged and the tanks that supply surrounding communities refilled.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and want to thank them for their patience while we performed this essential repair.”
