Police issue red alert over Glenrothes ecstasy pills
ByJonathan Watson
Police in Glenrothes have issued an urgent warning over a particularly dangerous batch of ecstasy tablets circulating in the town.
One man has already collapsed after taking one of the red pills and there are fears that others cases may follow.
Local police are keen to ensure that anybody considering taking drugs is aware of the potential risks.
They said: “Police in Glenrothes are urging people to be aware that red ecstasy tablets circulating in the town are causing significant side effects.
“A young man recently collapsed having taken red ecstasy.”
The warning comes just weeks after the death of a Clydebank teenager who consumed the now notorious “Mortal Kombat” ecstasy tablet.
Regane MacColl’s death has thrust the use of ecstasy by party-goers back into the limelight, although it is not known whether the pills in Glenrothes are of the same batch.
Police said a man and a woman have been charged in relation to the pills found in Glenrothes.
