Police probe break-ins at electricity substations in Dundee

Police have launched an investigation after copper and bi-metal coiling worth thousands of pounds was stolen from an electricity substation in Dundee.
The theft happened sometime between 2pm on Thursday and 2pm on Friday at Dundee Technology Park. The building was broken and 700-900kgs of metal was taken.
Officers say the combined cost of repair and replacement runs to approximately £20,000.
Police are also investigating a break-in and attempted theft from an electrical substation at Claverhouse Industrial Estate, Dundee, at about 11.20pm on Friday (Oct 11), which left a number of houses in the local area without power for a time.
A connection between the crimes has not been ruled out.
Tayside Division have appealed to anyone who saw any suspicious people, vehicles or activity in these areas to get in touch. Anyone with information is being urged to call 101 or speak to any officer.
