Cowdenbeath boss Jimmy Nicholl has been hit with a double injury blow with two key players now likely to be ruled out for several weeks.
Midfielder Lewis Milne and top scorer Kane Hemmings were both injured in the Fifers’ 2-0 win over Dundee last Saturday and Nicholl revealed that they would now be on the sidelines for up to three weeks or, in the case of Hemmings, even longer.
Nicholl said: “Lewis, who has damaged ligaments, could hopefully be back in about two weeks but Kane is looking at a minimum of three weeks because of a hamstring injury.”
Adding to Nicholl’s problems is a suspension for left back Kenny Adamson which means he will miss Saturday’s Championship match at Livingston.
Cowden striker Greg Stewart has praised manager Nicholl for bringing competition for places at Central Park and lifting their spirits after a disappointing start to the season.
The Blue Brazil looked set for a meek exit out of the Championship until Nicholl started his second stint at Central Park in the wake of Colin Cameron leaving by mutual consent in November.
Since then they have streaked clear of bottom side Morton and are closing in on the safety of eighth place.
Stewart said: “The manager has brought in some new players and created that competition for players and we are unbeaten in five games with a great team spirit in place.”
