A woman who recorded one of the highest drink-driving readings for a female has been banned from the roads for three years.
Elizabeth Threshie admitted being five times the legal limit on July 22 this year.
The 43-year-old was caught after a couple following her car along the A85 in the middle of the afternoon became concerned at her erratic driving.
Threshie, of Sauchob Road, Methven, admitted driving on the A85 between Perth and Methven with 177mics of alcohol on her breath. The limit is 35mics.
Depute fiscal Stuart Richardson told Perth Sheriff Court: “At 3.20pm a married couple were driving along the A85 when they came up behind another vehicle, which was being driven by Mrs Threshie.
“They were concerned about the manner of her driving and continued behind her. The female of the married couple phoned the police.
“The vehicle being driven by the accused suddenly came to a stop. The wife in the car behind got out and approached because she was concerned the driver might be unwell.
“As she approached the car it drove off, so the witnesses followed. There was a bit of stopping and starting until she eventually did stop.
“The couple again approached the car and could smell alcohol. The husband managed to get her out of the vehicle and drove her to his home address.
“The female remained at the cars and waited for the police, then led them to where the accused was.”
David Holmes, defending, said Threshie’s problems with alcohol were the result of “deep-seated issues” but that she is now seeking help.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis ordered Threshie to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in addition to her driving ban.
