Residents call for help in Perth street plagued by flooding

Flooding in Cromlix Road earlier this week.
The council has pledged to help residents of a Perth street hit by flooding, but locals are calling for a permanent solution to the problem.
Cromlix Road resident Robin Carrie blamed water running down from Friarton Quarry and coming up through the drains.
He said: “Flooding is a continuous problem here as the water flows across Edinburgh road and down Cromlix Road and sits in a dip in the road.”
The local authority responded: “As a council we will always endeavour, with the resources available to us, to help communities and residents affected by flooding.
“However, we would also stress that the responsibility for protecting individual properties remains with their owners.
“We would also remind residents that all drainage systems have a finite capacity and during particular weather events this may be exceeded.
“The council provided emergency assistance to residents at the time of the flooding, including sandbags.
“We would encourage residents to be prepared for bad weather at home and when travelling.”
