A teenage girl was pushed to the ground and threatened with a 12in knife in an armed robbery in Dundee.
Police are now hunting the man who robbed the Super City News convenience store in Lochee Road at around 1.30pm on Friday.
The 19-year-old was working alone in her father’s shop when the man walked straight up to her holding the knife.
She was standing near the counter with her back to him when he pushed her to the ground and pointed the knife at her.
While she was cowering on the ground he went up to the till and he threatened to hurt her if she did not help him.
He then made her come around behind the counter and forced her to open the till so he could steal the cash before running off in an unknown direction.
The woman, who is a student, was shaken by uninjured in the incident.
Shop owner Tahir Mahmood was upset and angry that someone had attacked his daughter and left her traumatised.
He said: “This man wasn’t scared to come in and rob her. He wasn’t even hiding the knife. He just walked in with a 12in knife.”
Mr Mahmood said his daughter is a student who was only covering for a few hours while he was away.
He said: “If someone could do this to a young woman he must be incredibly sick. She is still in shock. She has been left shocked and distressed by what happened.
“For a young female who is on her own to have an experience like this is really upsetting. It will take her a long time to recover and she will probably never work in the shop again.”
The police have issued an appeal for information to help them find the culprit, who is described as aged between 20 and 30, 5ft 10in tall and of slim build.
At the time of the robbery he was wearing a dark hooded jacket, jeans and white trainers.
Detectives are carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area and also looking at police and private CCTV.
