A total of £500,000 will be invested by Perth and Kinross Council to promote the area during next year’s Ryder Cup.
The money will also be used to fund the infrastructure of the major golf tournament, which has been described as “an enormous opportunity”.
A more detailed report on the event will be discussed next month but members of the local authority’s strategic policy and resources committee welcomed the commitment to attracting visitors from across the world.
Convener Ian Miller said: “Clearly this will be a huge operation for the council, but also an enormous opportunity to display all that is best about the Perth and Kinross offering across the globe.”
