A former soldier who lost both his legs in Afghanistan has been named as the new ambassador for a gruelling Perthshire charity event.
The annual Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp, an endurance event that takes place near Blairgowrie, has raised £1.8 million for ABF the Soldiers’ Charity and the Alliance Trust Foundation since it was set up five years ago.
Now Edinburgh-born Micky Yule, who overcame his disabilities to become a professional para-powerlifter, has been named the event ambassador for the yomp next June.

The cause is close to Mr Yule’s heart as, after he left the army, the Soldiers’ Charity gave him grants to buy weightlifting equipment to begin training in his garage.
