More than £80 million is to be invested in council houses across Dundee over the next five years.
Most of the cash injection will be targeted at providing warmer and more fuel-efficient homes to help ensure all council houses meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard.
Housing committee convener John Alexander said: “The success of the energy efficiency programmes and our ability to forge partnerships with energy companies and other outside bodies has already helped to provide warmer and more fuel-efficient homes for our tenants.
“Tenants want increased energy efficiency measures in their houses that will save them money on their fuel bills and create warm, comfortable homes for them to live in.
“We want to provide better housing for people in Dundee and are working towards all our houses meeting the Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015.”
More than 85% of local authority housing stock in the city already meets the standard, the council said.
Most of the work to meet housing standards has so far focused on replacing kitchens and bathrooms, installation of energy-efficient gas central heating systems and insulation.
A total of £83 million will be spent over the next five years.
