A referendum on St Andrews students joining the National Union of Students could be cancelled. Campaigning has been suspended after the resignation of the spokespeople for the “Yes” side and a lack of volunteers to take their place. No-one attended an extraordinary general meeting for the pro- union team to stand or vote for new representatives. It will be decided at a student association meeting next Tuesday whether the referendum vote will go ahead next Thursday and Friday. Students are represented by the University of St Andrews Students’ Association, which is not affiliated to the national body.
