Storm-battered communities across central Scotland were returning to normal as a major clear-up got under way.
Thousands of rural homes which were plunged into darkness on Thursday saw power restored throughout the day.
Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution engineers were out from first light, working to repair power lines.
Power was restored to the majority of Callander and Lochearnhead by Thursday evening, with Crianlarich still affected for much of Friday.
Arnprior and Killin/Crianlarich nurseries and Crianlarich, Deanston and Strathyre primaries were all closed yesterday due to power disruption.
Elsewhere across the region council squads were out clearing up the debris left by fallen trees which had been strewn about by the high winds.
The B822 from the junction of the A81 to the junction with the A873 was closed due to fallen trees, as was the A81 at Cock Hill, which is not expected to reopen until this afternoon.
A Stirling Council spokesman assured the public that it was ready for any eventualities and that priority routes and footways had been treated.
“Weather conditions have improved,” he said. “However, it is forecast to stay cold with areas of patchy ice.
“There has been some localised flooding due to leaves blocking gullies. Full standby cover is in place to deal with a number of different severe weather eventualities.”
