Singer Barbara Dickson puts trust in Pars supporters
ByThe Courier Reporter
One of Fife’s most famous daughters is clearly still in touch with her roots after signing up to support her local football team.
Singer Barbara Dickson interrupted preparations for a concert in Glenrothes to accept her membership certificate for the Pars Supporters’ Trust.
Barbara has previously donated funds to help save Dunfermline Athletic, who were taken over by a fans consortium.
Although she no longer lives in the area, Barbara is still kept up to date with the goings on in Dunfermline by relatives in neighbouring Limekilns.
Accepting her membership, she said: “I’m honoured to become a member of the Pars Supporters’ Trust and I’m delighted that the fans have been successful in buying the club.”
Vice-chairman Drew Main acknowledged the contribution made by the singer and added: “Even with her hectic schedule, Barbara was only too pleased to meet with us and accept her certificate.
“She was absolutely thrilled to become a member.
“It’s refreshing when someone as successful as Barbara Dickson has never forgotten her roots and still cherishes the memories of her home town.”
