Community payback order for Dundee man who set up DIY power plant
ByThe Courier Reporter
A man who rigged up a DIY power plant in his bedroom with a generator suspended from his ceiling to power his house was today given a one-year community payback order.
Dundee Sheriff Court had heard that Charles McKenzie “could have killed himself and his neighbours”.
McKenzie, 55, of Dudhope Court, set up the bizarre system in his 14th-floor flat after his mains electricity supply was cut off due to unpaid bills.
He had earlier admitted a charge of culpable and reckless conduct with total disregard for the safety of himself and others.
