Firearms officers in Dundee are continuing their hunt for three armed men who targeted a house in Douglas on Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Gary Ogilvie, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that his officers were following positive lines of enquiry in their efforts to trace three men who were reportedly carrying weapons.
Chief Inspector Conrad Trickett, who is the Commander for policing in the area, said there would be additional high visibility uniformed patrols in the Douglas area, but reassured residents that they should be aware, but not alarmed by the incidents.
He said: ‘‘This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and the Dundee public can rest assured that we are following positive lines of enquiry in our efforts to trace the people responsible.
“We don’t believe there is any wider risk to public safety, but we are treating these incidents very seriously and have a significant number of officers dedicated to tracing these men.’’
A car and a house window in Balbeggie Street were damaged by three men all understood to be in their early 20s at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.
They had got out of a dark-coloured car possibly a Vauxhall Vectra leaving the driver within, before running to a nearby address and banging on the front door.
They then vandalised a car that was parked on the street, breaking its windows and threw an object at a window of the address, smashing the glass. The men then got back in the car and left, heading in the direction of Balerno Place.
One of the men wore a dark coloured hooded top, with a Nike swoosh on it, with the hood up and dark tracksuit bottoms. Another wore a dark hooded top, again with the hood up.
The third man also wore a dark-coloured hooded top, with the hood up, with ginger-coloured hair poking out from underneath.
Later that same evening, at about 9pm, two men were seen acting suspiciously outside the same address, before leaving a short time later in a silver-coloured people carrier-style vehicle. Again, they were reported to be carrying weapons.
Both men wore dark hooded tops with the hoods up and were of slim build.
Officers are connecting both incidents and are appealing to anyone who has information that could assist enquiries to call 101, or speak to any police officer.
Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
