A Fife family are facing festive heartache after their Christmas presents were stolen by thieves.
David Handsley, 50, awoke on Thursday morning to find raiders had taken gifts, cards and a purse during the opportunist raid on his home in Oakley.
The thieves took presents that had been placed under the family’s Christmas tree in the living room and stole the purse from Amanda’s handbag.
However, a laptop computer, television and designer watches were all untouched, suggesting that those responsible were in a hurry.
The bus driver, who lives with his wife Amanda and 16-year-old son Ben, said: “It’s not nice, knowing that someone has broken into the house and gone through your things.
“I’m gutted.You wouldn’t wish this on anybody.”
Officers are now appealing for anyone who can help with their inquiries to come forward.
Sergeant Martin McGovern said: “A housebreaking is a horrible crime to experience, and more so during the Christmas period.
“We would urge anyone who has seen suspicious behaviour in the area to get in touch.”
Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
