Clark’s gig showcases Gardyne Theatre project’s music mentoring
ByThe Courier Reporter
Nine young acts this week showcased the results of three months of coaching from musicians at the Gardyne Studios Youth Music Initiative.
The project saw the youngsters being mentored through the summer by some of Dundee’s most respected musicians, recording and producing a CD compilation album and performing the songs live at a concert in the Gardyne in November.
In conjunction with The Courier and Creative Scotland, the course involved almost 30 young musicians receiving mentoring throughout the summer from Stevie Anderson and Dave Webster from AMWWF, Chris Marra (ex-Danny Wilson,) and Paul (Lefty) Wright, all multi-instrumentalists with a proven track record in music.
The results were showcased again at Clark’s on Lindsay Street.
Project manager Mike Brown told The Courier: “I would like to say a massive thank-you to everyone who participated and helped put on the two amazing youth music shows.”
