Lichties seal loan deal for Dundee striker Leighton McIntosh

Arbroath boss Paul Sheerin will bolster his striking options with the addition of striker Leighton McIntosh on loan from Dundee.

The Gayfield gaffer has been keen to strengthen in the forward positions after another Dark Blues frontman, former Red Lichties favourite Steven Doris, was recalled to Dens after an injury-hit loan spell last week by his manager John Brown.

McIntosh, who was previously farmed out to Arbroath’s Angus rivals Montrose, has had his first-team chances for his parent club severely limited with a host of strikers ahead of him in the pecking order.

Sheerin is hoping the 20-year-old can establish himself at League One Arbroath and return to Dens a better player.

The manager said: “Hopefully, all the necessary paperwork will go through soon and Leighton will be joining us until the end of the season.

“I had hoped to keep Doris at the club but John wanted him back. However, he offered us Leighton and I was delighted to accept.

“He is a player I have admired playing for both Montrose and Dundee. He is at a young age and hopefully we can give him a platform to show what he can do with regular football.”
