Double sunny success story for Broughty Ferry festivals
ByThe Courier Reporter
Despite two “mad dashes” through the packed crowd by members of the Broughty Ferry lifeboat including some from behind the temporary real ale bar the 14th annual Ron Bonar Beer Festival was hailed a “huge success.”
An airport alert and a canoeist in difficulties were the reasons for the callouts but they failed to put a dampener on the event, which raises thousands every year for the RNLI, organiser Ewan Ross said.
“It’s probably the busiest single day ever here,” he said of the crowds.
“There are about two to three hundred people outside and it’s the best weather we’ve ever had.”
Meanwhile, up the road at the Fort Hotel’s Big Weekend, mine host John Black described the festival as: “Fantastic, the best one yet,” with thousands of happy drinkers enjoying an “electric atmosphere” and a feast of music.
