Efforts to stop the introduction of increased contributions for teachers’ pensions have been narrowly blocked by the Holyrood education committee. Members voted against a motion to reject regulations that would see teachers and lecturers pay more of their salary in pension contributions. The Scottish Government brought forward the regulations, saying that it was forced to do so because of decisions at Westminster.
