The incident, which occurred at the Scott Fyffe roundabout in the afternoon, also left businesses along the Arbroath road in the dark. John Rollo, manager of the Boars Rock pub, said: “The power went off about 12.25pm but I’m still not really sure what is going on. “The police came and told us that the power would be off for three or four hours, but we’re going to stay open. “We’ve got the candles out and we’re taking it back to the olden days. “Let’s hope the beer stays cold!” he added. Power had been restored to almost all properties by 6.30pm. For more on this story, see Wednesday’s Dundee edition of The Courier.
