A new entrance and exit at Dundee railway station opens in Riverside Drive.
It is 250 metres from the original site and will lead to a temporary booking office, where customers will be able to purchase tickets from members of staff or ticket vending machines.
The change has been made to allow the existing station to be demolished at a cost of £1.5 million, making way for a new £14m five-storey, crescent-shaped replacement with a hotel, cafe, offices and shops.
Building work is expected to be begin before the end of the year and the new station is scheduled to open in summer 2016.
Stewart MacVicar, ScotRail’s head of projects, said: “We’re delighted that Dundee station will play a central role within the overall waterfront project.
“We have been working with Dundee City Council and Network Rail to limit the impact of the redevelopment work on our customers.
“Once open, the new station building will be an accessible and welcoming space for anyone coming into Dundee.”
Signs and posters will alert customers to the change in layout when entering the station from the street or after travelling by train. There will be no changes to the train timetable as a result of the works.
The existing station facilities at platform level have undergone significant upgrading and refurbishment to allow temporary facilities to be created.
