Scottish rail services faced severe disruption this morning after a body was found on the line near Edinburgh.
Replacement bus services ran while police investigated the tragedy at Dalmeny, just south of the Forth Bridge.
A National Rail network spokesman said: “Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Dalmeny and Inverkeithing.
“This is causing delays of up to 40 minutes to trains between Edinburgh / Falkirk Grahamston and Inverkeithing. Disruption is expected to continue until 9am.”
ScotRail reportedsevere disruption to many of its services. However, shortly before 8.45am it announced services were returning to normal, although it warned it would take some time for the backlog to clear.
One passenger told The Courier no southbound trains were leaving Dundee while the incident continued.
