Gavin Gunning poised to be offered Dundee United deal

Dundee United are ready to offer Gavin Gunning a return ticket to Tannadice.

The Irish central defender has been training with the Tangerines at St Andrews this week, with a view to rejoining his former club if he impresses.

It is understood that Gunning has indeed persuaded United manager Mixu Paatelainen that he is worth a shot.

The 24-year-old will have signing talks over the next few days and a deal could be done in time to see Gunning make his second debut for the club when St Johnstone visit Tannadice a week tomorrow.

Also, there is a good chance that Callum Morris will return from injury for that match to make it a revamped central defence against Saints.
