A teenager has been airlifted to hospital after getting into difficulty on the Fife Coastal Path.
The alarm is understood to have been raised at around 3pm on Sunday afternoon following a report of a youngster with a suspected broken ankle on rocks near West Wemyss, just along the coast from Kirkcaldy.
The RNLI crew from Kinghorn lifeboat were called out to assist, as were crews from Leven and St Andrews, but they were forced to call in the Rescue 999 helicopter based in Prestwick due to the terrain involved.
The boy, who is understood to be a 14-year-old from the local area, was taken to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital for further treatment.
