Boogie-boarding Angus residents and bikers will prove oil and water do mix this weekend.
Brechin’s annual Harley-Davidson in the City showcase makes its return on Saturday, and organisers have promised a bigger, faster and stronger event.
Scotland’s longest ground-based waterslide will return and BRAVO Brechin welcome back more than 400 bikers for a ride-out and display.
The event was organised to celebrate the links Brechin and its surroundings have with a major spoke in the wheels of Americana.
Thousands of people will make a pilgrimage to Netherton Cottage at Aberlemno, where Arthur, Walter and William Davidson were born.
The brothers met Englishman Bill Harley after leaving the Angus countryside for America, and laid the foundations for the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
Gavin Brymer of BRAVO Brechin said the Dunedin chapter of the Harley Owners Group has organised the largest contingent of bikes to be seen in Angus yet.
“We had 300-400 last year and we are hoping for more than 400 this year,” he said.
“They will park up in Panmure Street, which gives the public ample opportunity to view the bikes.”
The event saw its first waterslide last year, along 200 metres of City Road.
Mr Brymer said the group has been told this was the longest ground-based waterslide in Scotland and this year plucky participants will be sent down even faster.
“It will be a bit smoother ride this year instead of using lilos we will have boogie boards, like polystyrene surfboards.
“We had a trial run with those a month ago and they go really well.
“Anyone who was there last year will notice it’s quite a bit quicker.”
The slide will begin at 11am and there are tickets available from outlets throughout the town and there will be tickets on the day.
There will be bands on throughout the afternoon in the Swan car park, and a number of food and motorcycle-themed activities.
