The producers behind a pioneering Dundee-based police drama are hoping to attract the attention of TV bigwigs with a new trailer.
Writer Adam McNamara has released a 13-minute teaser of The Job, which was shot in the City of Discovery and features Game of Thrones star Daniel Portman.
The policeman-turned-scriptwriter has joined up with BAFTA-nominated Flyboy Creative to produce the trailer after a successful crowdfunding project.
Mr McNamara said: “Being an ex-cop myself, I wanted to have a true representation of the job on screen.
“Cop dramas are great but there’s always things that make you wonder if they had a police advisor. Showing cops the way they really doesn’t go against the dramatic line in the story so it always nipped me a wee bit that they were never shown as real people.
“All our characters are real; they’re not heroes and they’re flawed like everybody else. It’s about being as realistic as possible.
“I was based in Dundee for nearly five years, working in the city centre and also in the schemes in the north end of Dundee. The stories are tweaked a little bit and all the names have obviously been changed.
“There is nothing like our show on television at the moment,” he said.
“I have a producer and a writing agent who have been working tirelessly taking the project to different channels – a big channel did commission it a year back but they wanted to change it so much that I didn’t feel comfortable putting my name to it.
“We took a step back when it started to become clich – this isn’t what we wanted to do so we took the risk of not proceeding with them and taking a step back.”
The trailer, which contains adult content, can be watched here.
