An Angus woman assaulted and robbed her mother for a purse containing £15.
Jane Robertson robbed her 60-year-old mother Dorothy at her Kirriemuir home after her repeated requests for money were ignored.
The 35-year-old appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court and admitted the offence, which took place in Middlefield Avenue, Kirrie, on January 19.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said: “The accused had attended at her mother’s address at 7.15pm.
“She had asked her mother for some money, she gave her £5 for a bus fare home.
“The accused still wouldn’t leave her house, and the mother took her purse and walking stick, with the intention of leaving the house if she did not.”
The woman left to get into her car and was pursued by the accused, who pushed her to the ground during a struggle for her purse.
Ms Kennedy said: “She has health problems, MS and other conditions.”
The court heard there was £15 cash in the purse, which had not been recovered.
Defending Robertson, solicitor Nick Markowksi said the case had been reduced from an indictment matter to summary at an early stage.
“My client has asked me to apologise publicly to her mother,” he said.
“As recently as this weekend her mother travelled to Dundee to take her out for a meal and buy her some groceries.”
The solicitor said the mother had “borne the brunt” of an early history of offending.
Mr Markowski said Robertson, of Lily Walker Centre, Dundee, has three children and recently became a grandmother for the first time.
Visiting Sheriff Robert Vaughan questioned: “She’s still using illicit substances?”
“She is on a methadone programme. She’s relapsed and she’s using heroin approximately £10 per day which is a reduction.”
Sentence was deferred to August 20 for updated reports.
