Laurie Wallace sustained a head injury in the incident in Kirkcaldy last Friday and passed away in the town’s Victoria Hospital on Tuesday evening. A post mortem is to be conducted to determine the exact cause of the death of the 60-year-old, who lived in Leslie Street. On Monday a 40-year-old man appeared in court in connection with the incident. Mr Wallace’s family issued a statement which said: “Laurie was an adoring father who will be sorely missed. “His loss has left us devastated and we ask for peace to grieve at this very difficult time.” Officers were called to Tolbooth Street at around 11pm last Friday after reports of an altercation. Grant Gay, of Kirkcaldy, appeared in the town’s sheriff court in private on a petition alleging assault to severe injury and danger of life. He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination. He was released on bail. The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said yesterday a date for his next court appearance was to be confirmed in due course.
