Fife man Martin McGroarty is preparing to jet off to the USA, after winning a top Texas talent competition.
Martin, who works at Fife Council as a lead planning officer, has been asked to perform his own song, My Angel, at North America’s biggest Scottish festival in May, after wowing judges at the Texas Scots Talent Competition 2015.
The Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games will take place from May 8-10 in Dallas, and attracts crowds of up to 50,000 people.
Martin, who is originally from Coatbridge but has lived and worked in Kirkcaldy for the past 25 years, said: “I’m blown away by this fantastic news. I’ve only recently started playing guitar and singing again after taking a break from music for family reasons, so to get this recognition and the chance to play in America is just amazing.
“I’ve had great support from the staff and regulars at Weavers Pub and the St Clair Tavern in Kirkcaldy so I’d like to thank them all for that.”
Ahead of his American gig, Martin will perform at Weavers Pub in Kirkcaldy on Saturday April 11 at 9pm.
