Dundee police are appealing for witnesses after a 32-year-old man was assaulted in Istanbul takeaway in the Nethergate, in the early hours of this morning.
Officers said the victim was in the shop with a friend at about 12.30am when he was approached by a man believed to in his 30s.
After a brief exchange of words, he was assaulted although not seriously hurt and he did not need medical treatment.
The suspect who is described as 5ft 8in, of medium build, with a three-quarter-length black jacket with a red motif, then headed in the direction of South Tay Street.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who knows who might be responsible.
