A woman was knocked to the ground and robbed in a terrifying attack in Lochgelly last night.
The 47-year-old was walking home when a male approached from behind and knocked her down.
He then stole her handbag and ran off.
Detective Inspector David Russell said: “Thankfully the woman was not injured but was left shaken and upset following the incident.
“Despite being in shock she was able to give a description of her attacker and anyone who believes they saw this male or can assist in tracing him is asked to contact police immediately.”
The attacker is described as white, wearing a black woollen hat, green ‘pilot’ style jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.
The attack happened in Auchterderran Road.
DI Russell added: “We have high-visibility patrols in Lochgelly at the moment to engage with the public and offer reassurance.
“Anyone who believes they saw anything suspicious in the Auchterderran Road on Monday evening can speak with these officers, contact Police Scotland on 101, or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
