Dog walkers learn new tricks as pet pooches steal the show

Canine lovers taught their dogs new tricks and learned lessons of their own during a dog awareness day at Moncreiffe Hill Wood.
The area is a popular spot for dog walkers and the event sought to highlight two common issues: the failure to clear up dog mess and dogs jumping up on other people as they are walking through the woods.
The event was organised by the Woodland Trust Scotland and also gave dogs and their owners the chance to take part in some fun activities.
Prizes were awarded to the top dog in a variety of competitions, including those for best trick, as well as the pooch with the waggiest tail.
Dog trainer Kairyn Beatson, from k9capers, offered free training tips and agility equipment to try out, while Perth and Kinross Council’s dog warden provided free micro-chipping and dog mess bags so as to help keep the area clean.
Site manager Jill Aitken said: “Moncreiffe Hill Wood is a really popular place for dog walkers and we want to encourage everyone to enjoy the scenery and nature that people can experience there.”
