A driver who led police on a dramatic chase through Perth remains in a “serious but stable” condition in hospital.
The 52-year-old man was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee on Wednesday night, after his van careered off the road.
He had been trying to flee from officers when he ploughed through a fence into a field above Kinfauns Castle.
The vehicle tumbled 500ft down a steep hill, sparking a major rescue operation. Several units from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended at the scene, near Muirhall Road in Perth.
Firefighters trained in rope rescue also attended, along with a Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth.
There were fears the man was trapped inside the vehicle and following an assessment of the scene, he was eventually helped out by emergency workers.
A police spokesperson said: “A 52-year-old man was conveyed to Ninewells Hospital, where his condition is being described as serious but stable.”
