Body found on Mearns coast confirmed as missing Fife angler
ByGraham Brown
A body washed up on the Mearns coastline has been confirmed as that of missing Fife angler Fraser Carrington.
The 32-year-old from Dysart was on a night fishing expedition at Tangle Ha, north of St Cyrus, when he disappeared in the early hours of last Sunday morning.
It is thought he may have been washed out to sea by a freak wave.
An extensive search of the coastline was carried out after a fishing pal of Mr Carrington reported him missing.
Police confirmed a body recovered from the shore near St Cyrus on Friday morning is that of the construction industry worker.
A statement said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the body recovered from the shore close to St Cyrus on Friday February 7 2014 at around 9 am has been identified as that of Fraser Carrington, aged 32 years old, who had previously been reported missing.
“Next of kin have been informed and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“There are no suspicious circumstances.”
More details, with tributes to Mr Carrington, in Monday’s edition of The Courier.
