Dundee minister Jim Hudson has died peacefully at his home in Tayport, aged 78.
Mr Hudson was born and raised in Glasgow, although he spent some war years as an evacuee in Troon. He was called to the ministry and began his training in 1956.
In 1959 he married Ellison and undertook a position with the Church of Nazarene in Sunderland. On ordination two years later, he travelled to the US, where he spent four years.
During this time Jim and Ellison had two daughters. This was followed by three years in India, where Mr Hudson worked with students in Maharashtra.
Returning to Scotland with three daughters, Mr Hudson transferred to the Church of Scotland and became minister of Trinity Church, Hamilton, in 1969.
The family moved to Dundee in 1977, where a fourth daughter was born the same year. Mr Hudson served as minister in St Peter’s McCheyne Church formerly McCheyne Memorial Church until his retirement in 1999.
During his retirement he served as locum minister in several churches including Trinity Church, Dundee, Monikie and Newbigging, Falkland and Freuchie, and ended his association with Largoward and St Monans at his last service there on July 7.
An uplifting celebration of Mr Hudson’s life was held in Tayport Parish Church last Thursday.
Mr Hudson is survived by his wife, four children and 10 grandchildren.
