It is the venue where royal love is said to have blossomed but the owners of the St Andrews caf where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dated has gone up for sale.
The North Point caf has gone on the market almost a decade after Wills and Kate sipped coffee and munched on cake together at the start of their relationship.
The outlet on North Street, a hit with tourists in recent years, has been valued at £115,000 and is expected to draw significant interest from prospective buyers.
Business is said to have boomed since the 2011 royal wedding, and owners Linda and John Cunningham recall watching young love flourish.
“We bought North Point 12 years ago, which was the time that William first started university at St Andrews and he became quite a regular customer with his friends,” said Linda.
“Kate was also a customer with her friends and some rumours started circling around the town that maybe there was something going on between the two of them.
“Then they started coming in for coffee together a few times. They didn’t have anything major, just coffee and cake in the afternoons after lectures.
“There’s a bit of a town rumour that their first date was here, but I have no idea if that’s true. It wasn’t exactly something you asked them about, but yes, there’s a chance it could have been here.”
