A man is due to appear in court on Monday following the discovery of a woman’s body in Forfar.
The arrest was made following the death of the 40-year-old woman at a flat in the town’s Glenmoy Terrace.
The discovery of her body was made around 9.30pm on Friday night, sparking a major police operation centred on a two-storey block at the corner of Glenmoy Terrace and Airlie Crescent.
A police command unit remained outside the property throughout Saturday as detectives carried out intensive inquiries into the death, which Police Scotland confirmed is being treated as suspicious.
A police spokesman said: “The address has been cordoned off to allow a full forensic examination of the scene and enquiries are under way to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
“While the woman is understood to be local, next of kin are in the process of being informed and her name will not be released until this has happened.
“A 33-year-old man has been arrested and will be appearing at Forfar Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with the incident.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
