Brechin remain bottom after a draw against Cowdenbeath, but served notice to their relegation rivals that they will fight to the end as a goal from the on-loan Falkirk youngster Scott Shepherd deep into stoppage-time gave them a point.
Brechin player-boss Darren Dods said: “We switched off at a set-piece to give them an early goal, but we kept playing away and got a goal back, then we had a few great chances to go 2-1 up.
“Graeme Smith made a few saves, then his first mistake of the season let them go ahead.
“We kept going, and a good shot from Scott gave us the draw we deserved.
“We are still a bit stretched and I hope to bring a couple more boys in on loan to help us out.”
Brechin had an early Robert Thomson effort cleared off the line by Kenny Adamson.
Cowdenbeath took the lead on six minutes when Chris Kane rose to glance home a header from a Jack Beaumont free-kick.
Brechin equalised on 38 minutes. David Weatherston crossed from the right and Jonathan Tiffoney netted.
Smith made a brilliant save from Greig Spence then, on half-time, Brechin had a big shout for a penalty when an Andy Jackson shot was handled by Adamson.
Four minutes into the second half Jackson hit the post and a follow-up from Shepherd was saved by Grant Adam.
Smith made another fine save from Kieran Gibbons, then the keeper was the home hero again to deny Ross Caldwell.
On 84 minutes a hopeful ball into the box from Dean Brett somehow deceived Smith and bounced over him into the net.
Three minutes into added time Jackson fed Shepherd, and his shot found the bottom corner for a dramatic equaliser.
Cowdenbeath manager Colin Nish said: “I am disappointed not to win a tight game.
“We were 2-1 up and lost a goal on the final whistle. We played well, although I am disappointed with the defending at the end.”
