People in Dundee know the name and deeds of Admiral Adam Duncan but now a media company is hoping to boost the profile of another hero of the Battle of Camperdown.
During the 1797 naval engagement between the British and Dutch fleets, Sunderland sailor Jack Crawford scaled the mast of Duncan’s flagship to reattach his colours and show he was still in command.
Lonely Tower Film and Media have now finished this documentary about Crawford.
Spokesman Mark Thorburn said: “With a personal interest in maritime history and the age of Nelson, the story of Jack Crawford was too good to miss.”
The documentary was launched with the help of the sailor’s descendant Brian Franklin, who said: “To have such an ancestor is very humbling and exciting.”
