Call for end to Fife’s reliance on Forth Road Bridge
ByJonathan Watson
The people of Fife want the region’s dependence on the Forth Road Bridge to end, a local think tank has claimed.
The Carnegie UK Trust says that the findings of a new poll suggest residents want to end the supposed reliance on the crossing following the chaos caused by its closure last year.
The data, gathered by Ipsos MORI, also found that 60% of local firms saw profits affected by the closure of the bridge, which only fully-reopened last month after 11 weeks of emergency repairs.
The Trust’s chair, Jim Metcalfe, said that 62% of residents felt that Fife was too dependent on the Forth Road Bridge, providing a compelling case for more “think local” development within the region.
