The body of an elderly man washed ashore at Monifieth on Sunday afternoon.
The find followed a search and rescue mission involving police and coastguard units, including a helicopter from Aberdeen, on the River Tay the previous day after a man was spotted on the Tay Road Bridge in Dundee.
The identity of the man has not been released by police although next of kin have been informed.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland along with other emergency services attended Tay Road Bridge in Dundee at 10.30am on Saturday May 30 after reports of concern for a man.
“The body of a man was recovered from the River Tay, Monifieth, at about 12.30pm on Sunday, May 31.
“The identity of the man has been established and next of kin have been made aware.”
