Budget 2015: Scots Secretary says Dundee should be home of new video games fund

Dundee should be the home of a £4 million video games fund announced in the Budget, according to the Scottish Secretary.
Alistair Carmichael told The Courier he will open talks with industry figures and council leaders to make sure those with the most expertise are in charge of deciding where the cash goes.
The Treasury wants the new money, which will be administered over the next four years, to encourage entrepreneurial drive within the industry, find new talent and help companies and developers turn ideas into products.
It will be administered through a community investment company which Mr Carmichael wants based by the Tay.
He said: “I don’t want it sitting in Whitehall administering something Whitehall doesn’t understand very well. It is going to have to have a home somewhere and to my mind Dundee is the place for that home.
“As Secretary of State for Scotland I will be talking to the industry, the council and anyone interested in making sure Dundee becomes the home of this fund.
“It’s not just good for Dundee, it’s good for all of us if it works as effectively as possible and it will if it’s rooted in industry.”
