An independent Perth brewery has bolstered its board as it moves to significantly increase overall production volumes.
Craft beer producer Inveralmond Brewery has announced the appointment of former Scottish & Newcastle and Heineken executive Andy Agnew as a new non-executive director.
The move follows a recent investment by the 17-year-old business in efficient new production plant, which it has installed in order to satisfy increased demand in the craft beer marketplace.
The company said it was developing new domestic and export markets while plans were well-advanced for new products to service trade customer and consumers at home and abroad.
Inveralmond’s range of beers are now available in most multiple retailers including Tesco and Sainsbury and the firm exports to a range of countries in continental Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific.
Turnover at inveralmond exceeded £1.5 million last year and te company now employs 18 staff.
Managing director Fergus Clark said the operational and commercial knowledge of Mr Agnew – who has more than 40 years of exerience in the trade – would be vital in taking the brewery forward through its next stages of development.
“He brings a wealth of experience into an organisation where we are fully committed to growth and development of our range of quality craft beers,” Mr Clark said.
“His strategic knowledge and creativity will strengthen the business as we move forward in this developing market.”
Non-executive chairman Erik Ostman – who now leads a six-strong board – said it was an exciting for the industry.
He said: “We have extended our board to give us a balance of skills and experience that will enable us to drive sustainable and profitable growth for the business.
“The market is changing quickly, creating opportunities daily and we feel well-placed as an established producer of craft beers to take advantage of any opportunities ahead of us.”
