A Fife butcher minced the competition to produce the best bridie in the world. W.F. Stark in Buckhaven took the coveted Diamond Award in the bridie section of the 17th World Scotch Pie Championships with their meat-based delight. Winners were announced across 11 sections at a glittering ceremony in Cumbernauld following a judging session in Dunfermline last year. Overall champions were The Kandy Bar in Saltcoats. MacDonald Bros, Pitlochry took best vegetable quiche and top vegetarian savoury. Other medal winners included Mr C’s (Newburgh) Kenneth Allan Butchers/ H.W Irvine (Blairgowrie), Ann Davidson Butchers (Perth), Tom Courts Quality Foods (Cowdenbeath), Goodfellows of Dundee, James Pirie & Son (Blairgowrie), Nicoll’s Rosebank Bakery (Dundee), Fisher & Donaldson (Cupar), Keptie Bakery (Letham), Wm Stephen (Dunfermline), Murrays Bakers (Perth), Scott Brothers (Dundee), DH Robertson (Arbroath), Sugar & Spice (Auchterarder).
