Two men appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday charged with defrauding an elderly couple of £65,000.
David McKissock (22), of Wardie Road, Glasgow, and Igors Rimars (36), of Rosemount Square, Aberdeen, appeared separately before Sheriff Robert McCreadie on a petition alleging two charges.
It is alleged they posed as bank officials and police officers to induce their victims to withdraw £30,000 from their bank account and to transfer a further £35,000 into accounts bearing their names.
The second charge alleges they laundered the money transferred into their accounts by withdrawing it and purchasing items.
Both men made no plea or declaration and had their cases continued for further examination. They were released on bail.
