Highlanders captain Nasi Manu is making the switch from Super XV to the PRO12, but with Edinburgh rather than Glasgow.
Rumours in France that the Warriors were interested in bringing the former New Zealand Under-20 back rower to Scotland proved wrong as the power-running 26-year-old will be coming to the capital instead on a two-year deal at the end of the current Super Rugby season.
Manu made his debut for the Crusaders in 2008 having played provincial rugby for his native Canterbury, but switched to the Highlanders in 2010 and has been co-captain of the Dunedin-based team for the last two seasons.
He won World Championships with New Zealand at Under 19s and Under-20 level, but could qualify for Scotland under residency if he extends his stay in Edinburgh to three years.
Meanwhile Glasgow have moved to sign a Scotland cap in Kieran Low, who will join from London Irish in the summer.
Low, who can play both second row and back row, made his Scotland debut as a replacement against Australia in 2013 and has since won six caps, although he hasn’t been involved in the Scotland camp during the RBS 6 Nations.
Born in Chichester, he qualifies for Scotland through his Dingwall-born grandmother after representing England at under-19 and under-20 level. He has been with Irish his entire career since graduating from their Academy in 2009.
Glasgow will also be taking Scotland squad member Hugh Blake on loan from Edinburgh for the rest of the PRO12 season as back row cover. The 22-year-old made only a handful of appearances for the capital club during a three-month trial contract, which has now been extended until the end of the season.
Jade Te Rure, another New Zealand-born, Scottish-qualified player who has started some games for Edinburgh, has also had his trial contract extended for the remainder of this season.
