Dundee City Quay residents are cheesed off after a pizza company launched an impromptu fireworks display without their knowledge.
Readers contacted us after a hearing a series of explosions on Tuesday night.
Owners raced to the windows of their flats and comforted terrified pets when the display began out of the blue at around 8pm.
The fireworks display was launched by Domino’s Pizza to celebrate the opening of their new shop.
Franchisee Henry Dawes said: “We have invested in a brand new, larger City Quay store to meet the demand.
“We marked the launch of the new store with an event attended by invited guests including Domino’s CEO Lance Bachelor and TV celebrity Cat Cubie, and held a private fireworks display outside the store, and set against the stunning backdrop of Dundee’s waterfront.”
Mr Dawes said organisations such as Forth Ports and the police had been made aware.
“We had a fantastic response from local residents and nearby businesses, even achieving a round of applause from those viewing the display from their homes overlooking the Tay,” he added.
“We’re disappointed a few residents didn’t enjoy the display and would like to sincerely apologise for any distress caused to pets. We do hope those residents will accept our apology.”
